Tournament Structure for the Porsche European Open
The 36-hole Green Eagle Golf Courses in Winsen,🍰 near Hamburg, is widely regarded among fans and professionals alike to be one of the most challenging courses in Germany. Since 2017, the golf tournament has taken place at this venue most years – the 2020 edition of the tournament being the exception, as it was cancelled due to the pandemic.
The action unfolds on the North Course and the South Course. The North Course is characterised by abundant, undulating greenery, water hazards, and tiny islands, with the four tee boxes ensuring that the course is accommodating to all playing abilities. On the other hand, the South Course is similar to a parkland style golf course with natural ponds, mature trees, and fast greenways that add to the challenge. The South Course is the venue of the German and European championships. As such, it is well-known to many of the European p💟layers on the tour.
With a €2 million prize pool on the line, players need to navigate the “hardest course in Germany” four times throughout the tournament's duration, playing 18 holes per day. By Sunday, the remaining players – those who have not been removed from the competition following a cut – will have a tournament score for the 72 holes that they have completed. Topping the leaderboard is the player that has made the best below-par score. If they are clear at the top of the leaderboard by the end of play on Sunday, then they will be named as the champion. If, however, more than one player shares a tied score, then a three-hole playoff will take place in order to split the competitors and find a winner.

Popular Porsche European Open Betting Markets
Online golf betting might not be as widespread as other sports such as football or tennis. That said, there is no question about its popularity, which has been increasing in recent years. Golf betting offers a plethora of betting options throughout the year, from the Ryder Cup to the Masters, the US Open, and . We've listed the most common bet typ❀es for this event below, including futures and matchups.
Futures Betting
When you bet on futures, you are essentially gambling on a player to win the competition, and stand to receive substantial payouts by doing so. A standard futures line has the name of a golfer followed by the odds – for example, you may have Tiger Woods + 600. In contrast, a tournament favourite can face odds of +800 to win. That means a £100 winning bet on such a player can net you a profit of £800, with a total tally of £900: the original £100 bet plus £800 in winnings.

Matchup Betting
While betting on golf futures is wagering on a player to win a tournament, matchup betting is placing a stake on a particular player to score lower than another player. The bet is usually on one golfer versus another, but it can also feature a trio of golfers. There is no over or under, and the moneyline comes last. The spread includes the number at which the line is set, followed by the odds – the moneyline will only have the odds.

Moneyline Betting
M🔯oneyline betting is pretty straightforward, as you are betting on a golfer to shoot a lower score than h𝄹is counterpart. The most crucial aspect you need to understand is the payout. For instance, if Rory McIlroy is facing even odds, while Jon Rahm is pegged as the betting favourite, even odds pay at 50-50, which means a bet of £100 on Rory gives you another £100. Rahm, on the other hand, is the tournament favourite, so the payout is not as high. To win £100, you will have to stake £120. Nevertheless, a bet of £120 will net you another £100, giving you £220 in winnings.

History of the Porsche European Open
This premier golfing tournament in Europe was founded in 1978 and was played on various English courses, including Sunningdale and Waꦐlton Heath. until 1994. The exception was in 1979,🍨 when the event was held at .
From 1995 to 2007 the tournament went ahead at in Ireland, before moving again in 2008 to the Jack Nicklaus-designed Heritage course at near Kent, England. In 2015, the event returned to the European Tour schedule, now played in Germany, after an interval of five years.
In addition to the BMW International Open, the Porsc♚he European Open is one of the two European Tour tournaments to be staged on German soil. It took place in Bad Griesbach, Bavaria, for two years until, in 2017, the tournament transferred 🥃to its current home.
With a length of over 7,100 metres, the North Course of the facility is the lengthiest on the European Tour. From the Champions tees, the par-73 course is also the most challenging place in Germany. Among other factors, the water hazards that run along 17 holes make the course a real technical challenge that players mus♛t overcome if they are to win.
After the Porsche European Open 2019 tournament was staged, it was felt that moving future editions of the tournament to September would be a good idea. That was achieved partly in the hope of attracting more spectators by hosting the tournament outside o൲f the holiday season. It was also a reaction to the changed schedule of the PGA Tour for 2019.
Since end▨ed, the organisers hope to attract more world-class golfers to Hamburg; in the end, however, the 2020 edition had to be cancelled due to the worldwide p🥂andemic, as was sadly the case for most international sporting events that year.
